Baker Elementary student wins Challenge 24 math competition

Baker Elementary School student Carter Jones won first place in the Challenge 24 competition, beating out all of the other competitors in the fifth grade. The countywide math competition was held on Wednesday, November 20, 2019, at Warren G. Harding High School.   Baker Elementary School fourth grade student Mike Leonard defeated 30 other students in his grade, earning himself a second place trophy in the competition.  The elementary Challenge 24 team, which is coached by Mrs. Lucas, had seven other students also earn medals for making it to the semi-final round.

The junior high Challenge 24 team, which is coached by , had three students finish in the top 20.  Seventh graders Gage Davis, Grady Garrett and Matt Neely placed within the top 20 after competing in the 7th/8th grade division.  Gage went on to make it into the semi-finals, finishing 9th out of 64 students.
