Mathews High School student earns Girl Scouts Silver Award after decorating Baker Elementary School with positive messages

The stall doors in the girls’ bathroom at Baker Elementary School were recently decorated with positive messages.  Mathews High School freshman Kaylee Scott is behind the artwork that adorns the doors.  Using a Cricut machine, Scott printed sayings on permanent vinyl such as “Believe in you.”, “You are always enough.” and “Girl, you are amazing.” and then installed them prior to the start of school.  It was all a part of Scott’s “Inspiration for Girls” project that helped earn her Girl Scout’s Silver Award. In addition to the positive messages, Scott received donations from Dollar General and the CEO of Girl Scouts to put together period packs that contain feminine hygiene products for students who may need them. Scott, who has been in the Girl Scout organization since she was a little girl, spent about a year and a half planning and researching her Silver Award project.
