Phase 3: Mathews Elementary Gym / Fall 2024

Project Overview

  • Bidding process initiated on August 28, 2024, with a Request for Qualifications.

  • Design builder selection scheduled for October 16, 2024.

  • No levy or new funding requests from the community for this project.

    Current budget will support the initiative.

  • Aims to enhance educational experiences for Mathews students and benefit the community for years to come.

Project Budget

  • Total budget: $2.2 million

    • Unused Elementary Addition Project funds: $875,000

    • Interest accrued from Elementary Addition Project funds: $175,000

    • Sale of Board Office Property proceeds: $440,000

    • General Funds allocation: $150,000

    • Permanent Improvement Funds: $270,000

    • Classroom Facility Funds: $290,000

Phase 2: Mathews Elementary Addition / Spring 2023

Four (4) Classrooms

Construction of four new classrooms designed to allow the district to combine Currie and Baker Elementary Schools into one school building.

Three (3) Offices

Addition of three new offices to create more workspace for staff.

Storage Space

Creation of extra storage closets to accommodate school materials and resources.

HVAC

Installation of a heating, ventilation and air conditioning system to improve air quality and climate control throughout the school.

Phase 1: Booster Field / Summer 2022

Bleachers

The district has contracted with state-term approved vendor Dant Clayton for the demolition of the existing home and visitor bleachers and stairs. Dant Clayton will install a new, 15 row x 67'6", 500 seat bleacher with an elevated walkway.

Press Box

Dant Clayton has also been contracted by the district to demolish the existing press box and install a new, 8' by 30' press box with a roof hatch and filming platform. The press box will be equipped with fiber optic internet access to stream games and events at Booster Field.

Stadium Lights

The district has contracted with state-term approved vendor, Musco Sports Lighting, to demolish the existing light poles at Booster Field, and install four new poles equipped with LED lighting sets.

Sound System

The district has contracted with state-term approved vendor, SoundCom Systems, to design and install a new state-of-the-art sound system that will improve the spectator experience at Booster Field.

Electrical Updates

The District has contracted with First Enerry to run and install new electrical service lines to the new stadium lights. The district is also upgrading its electrical service lines from Baker Elementary to power its new press box.
