If you do not reside in Fowler Township or Vienna Township and are interested in enrolling your child in Mathews Local School District through open enrollment, please visit the Board of Education Office to pick up a registration packet or download one using the link below.
Open Enrollment Timeline
Application Window: March 2, 2026 – April 17, 2026
During this time, families may pick up application packets and submit completed forms.

Monday–Friday | 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Do NOT mail applications. Mailed applications will not be considered.
Application & Interview Process
A separate application must be completed for each student.
Applications cannot be completed on site when picked up.
Applications must be submitted by the custodial parent/guardian.
Once the application packet is completed, it must be turned in along with two (2) proofs of residency.
Students must be currently enrolled in their residential school district.
Open enrollment is available to students residing within the state of Ohio.
Enrollment is limited for the 2026–2027 school year.
Each new applicant and their parent/guardian will be scheduled for an interview with the building principal prior to any enrollment decision. Interviews are typically held in May and June.
Notification of acceptance or denial will be mailed in June after all interviews are completed.
If Accepted
If accepted, families must complete online enrollment through FinalForms and schedule an appointment with the District to provide required documentation:
Birth Certificate
Immunization Record
Court/Custody Documents (if applicable)
Parent/Guardian Driver’s License
IEP documentation (if applicable)
All required enrollment steps must be completed by August 7, 2026.
Additionally, verification from the home district confirming the student is registered there is required.
Transportation
Transportation for open-enrolled students is the sole responsibility of the parent/guardian. Mathews Local School District does not provide transportation for open-enrolled students.
Attendance & Conduct
Attendance or behavioral concerns may result in termination of open enrollment at any time during the school year.
Athletic Eligibility
Students planning to participate in athletics must meet guidelines set by the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA):
Incoming 7th, 8th, and 9th graders: Must have passing grades in the immediately preceding grading period in a minimum of five (5) enrolled subjects.
Incoming 10th and 11th graders: Ineligible for the last 50% of the season in the sport in which the student participated during the 12-month period immediately preceding the transfer to Mathews Local Schools.
