natural history

Our 5th grade students had a great field trip to the Cleveland Museum of Natural History! While the original plan was to see Balto—the famous sled dog with a local connection—the highlight of the day ended up being a hands-on learning experience about Ohio's Indigenous Cultures.

baltoWith guidance from museum instructor Mr. Aivery, students explored real artifacts from four eras of human history, spanning more than 14,000 years before Europeans arrived in the Americas. They took on the role of archaeologists, using clues from the artifacts to learn about the daily lives, customs, and innovations of early Indigenous Ohioans.
