veterans day

Mathews High School held its annual Veterans Day ceremony, bringing students and staff together to honor the men and women who have served our nation.

The program began with the National Anthem. Student readers then shared the history of our armed forces, highlighting major conflicts throughout our nation’s history. As each era was recognized, students and staff with family members who served during those time were acknowledged.

In the cafeteria, a symbolic White Table display served as a powerful reminder of those who are missing in action or held as prisoners of war. Students had the opportunity to visit the display and learn about the meaning behind each item on the table.

In addition to the ceremony, students at Mathews Elementary participated in Veterans Day activities of their own. Mrs. McIntyre’s fifth grade ELA class wrote letters and created artwork to express gratitude for our veterans. Some students chose to bring their letters home to share with family members who have served, while the remaining letters will be delivered to local veterans clubs to spread appreciation throughout our community.
