Mathews Local School District will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Mathews Elementary School Gymnasium on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at 6:30 p.m., at Mathews Elementary School.
The ceremony will follow the district’s 6:00 p.m. Board of Education meeting, which includes the swearing-in of a new board member. Community members, staff and local officials are invited to attend.
This $2.2 million project reflects the district’s strong commitment to fiscal responsibility and long-term planning. The gymnasium was funded entirely through existing district resources, including unused project funds, accrued interest, proceeds from the sale of district property and district funds. Architectural renderings were developed by Architectural Vision Group, Ltd., with construction completed by C. Tucker Cope and Associates.
The event will feature a ceremonial ribbon-cutting, remarks from district leaders and light refreshments. District officials will also announce upcoming spring improvements, including a new playground for Mathews Elementary School.
