The Mathews Local Board of Education is seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual to serve as Superintendent of the Mathews Local School District. We are looking for an exemplary, visible, and student-centered leader to guide our district to the next level of excellence. The successful candidate will be a proactive, forward-thinking communicator who can build positive, trusting relationships with all stakeholders.

Desired Qualifications and Characteristics
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership and possess the following qualifications:

Licensure: Must possess a current, valid Ohio Superintendent's License (or be able to obtain one). Ohio requires three years of experience under a principal or administrative specialist license for superintendent certification.

Vision and Strategic Planning: Ability to develop and articulate a shared vision and strategic plan for continuous improvement, utilizing data-based decision making to monitor progress toward district goals.

Strategic Decision-Making: Ability to analyze multifaceted data— including student achievement statistics, enrollment trends, and fiscal reports—to develop reasonable and effective action plans.

Collaborative Problem-Solving: Skilled in building consensus among stakeholders such as school boards, parents, and community leaders to address sensitive issues and drive district-wide initiatives.

Crisis and Change Management: Proficiency in leading through uncertainty, maintaining a calm demeanor, and making reasonable and informed decisions under intense public pressure.

Communication Skills: Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to engage effectively and transparently with the Board of Education, staff, students, parents, and community members.

Instructional Leadership: A commitment to improving instruction and enhancing student achievement by overseeing curriculum development, supporting staff, and promoting best practices.

Financial Management: Strong understanding of school finance, budgeting, and resource allocation to ensure equitable and effective support of all district programs and compliance with state laws.

Ethical Leadership: Must maintain the highest levels of personal and professional integrity and ethics, consistently enforcing policies and rules fairly and professionally.

Community Engagement: Approachable and visible within the schools and community, actively building and maintaining partnerships to support the district's mission and goals.

Compensation
The Mathews Local Board of Education will offer salary and benefits commensurate with the education and experience of the candidate.
