Students in Honors Biology 2 recently completed the StreamWatch program in partnership with the Trumbull Soil and Water Conservation District.
During the field experience, students conducted macroinvertebrate studies to test the water quality and overall health of several local streams. This year, students collected and analyzed samples from the South Branch of Yankee Run, Spring Run, and Little Girard Creek.
By studying aquatic organisms and stream conditions, students gained hands-on experience with environmental science and learned how scientists monitor ecosystem health in local waterways.
This year marks the 22nd year Mathews students have participated in the StreamWatch program!
