Mathews choir students concluded the school year on a high note during the annual Spring Concert held on May 6, 2026.

Students spent part of the morning rehearsing with accompanist and former Mathews choir director Mrs. Marty Young before delivering an exceptional evening performance.

During the concert, several students were recognized for their outstanding achievements and contributions to the choral program.

The Director’s Award for Chorus, a prestigious accolade honoring exceptional choral ensemble members for their dedication, musical achievement, and contributions to the vocal ensemble, was presented to eighth grade students Marcus Carlo and Grace Wienand.

The National School Choral Award, the highest honor a high school senior can receive for outstanding dedication, musical achievement, and leadership in a choral program, was awarded to senior Kennedi Deak. Throughout her high school career, Kennedi has proudly represented Mathews in several OMEA Honors Choir performances, Solo and Ensemble events, and numerous school solo performances.
