Eleven Mathews Students Perform in OMEA Honors Choir

Mathews Local School District

October 26, 2026

Eleven Mathews Local Schools seventh- and eighth-grade students represented the district at the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) Middle School Honors Choir on October 23 and 24.

The students joined more than 160 other middle school musicians to rehearse and perform in a concert Saturday afternoon at Stambaugh Auditorium.

Mathews teacher Grace Jerasa has chaired the event's planning committee for six years. This year's performance even gave her an opportunity to make her drumming debut alongside former Mathews band director Jeff Penney. They performed with the choir during a Malaysian folk song that called for drumming.
