In Mrs. Leslie Konerth’s class, students participated in a Gallery Walk to deepen their understanding of history. Before beginning, they learned the difference between primary and secondary sources. The Gallery Walk featured powerful primary source images from 9/11. Students spent 15 minutes observing and recording their interpretations before coming together to share their insights as a class.

Steel beams are up and taking shape! Crews have been hard at work on our new elementary gymnasium since April, and we're excited to see the project moving forward. As summer approaches, our elementary students have been diving into something important — Water Safety! During the last few days of school, students have been learning how to stay safe around pools, beaches, waterparks and boats. With drowning being the second leading cause of accidental death for children ages 5–14 (CDC), these lessons could save a life. Drowning is silent and can happen in just 20–60 seconds — awareness is key!

On Friday, the Mathews Local School District came together in a powerful show of support for our elementary secretary, Julie Sethman. Staff in both schools surprised her by wearing purple shirts—a symbol of strength, hope and unity—as she courageously battles cancer.
