This week, Mathews Elementary School welcomed a very special guest—John Zabrucky, legendary Hollywood prop master and Warren native! Known for his work on Ghostbusters, Blade Runner, Men in Black and Star Trek, Zabrucky inspired our 3rd–5th grade students with stories of how a love for sci-fi and creativity launched his career.
He's in town for the “Sci-Fi + Hollywood: The Art of John Zabrucky” exhibit—on display now through June 28 at the Medici Museum of Art in Howland—and to help plan the future Museum of Science Fiction and Fantasy Arts in Warren, which will showcase 500+ props he donated.

🛠️ Estimated Completion: December 2025
This project will provide our elementary students with a dedicated gymnasium—finally separating the current multi-use cafeteria/gym space. And it’s not just for our elementary students, our high school athletes will gain much-needed practice space , too!
It’s a great day to be a Mustang! ❤️🖤🐎

Just a quick reminder...this is the last week to apply for open enrollment. Please be sure to send in all paperwork before this Thursday, April 17 at 3:30 PM to be considered for the 2025-2026 school year.

This is a reminder that student testing will begin on Monday, April 14th and will continue according to the testing schedule that was previously sent home and is available on the school website.
Please be aware that only students who are scheduled to test on a particular day should be present in person at school on those testing days. Students not testing will be remote and should check in to their first period class by 7:30 AM.
Students are permitted to be dismissed after all general testing has completed each day. Students wishing to be dismissed early must bring a signed note from their parent or guardian to school on the day of testing and give the note to their testing room teacher. This note should clearly state the student's name and indicate permission for early dismissal. Phone calls will not be accepted for early testing release.
For parents and guardians who will be picking up their students after testing, please park in the back of the school in the student parking lot. Students who have been approved for early dismissal will be released through the rear gymnasium doors. School staff will be present to assist with the dismissal process.
Please note that our normal school buses will also be running at their regular end-of-day schedule for students who are not being picked up early.
We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring a smooth and focused testing environment for all our students. Please ensure your child is well-rested and prepared for their tests.
If you have any questions regarding the testing schedule or dismissal procedures, please do not hesitate to contact the school at 330.637.3500.
Thank you for your continued support.

On our 100th day of school, our hallways were full of centenarians as students dressed up as 100-year-olds—complete with canes, curlers and more! Our kindergarteners wowed us with their creativity by designing shirts decorated with 100 items. On day 101, we spotted little Dalmatians throughout the building!
Cheers to marking milestones and making memories!
