Spanish II students recently turned their classroom into a restaurant experience!

Students worked in groups to create menus, prepare authentic Hispanic dishes, and serve students and staff through dine-in service and their own version of DoorDash.

It was a fun and engaging way to practice Spanish skills while exploring authentic cuisine and customer service. Great job, students!

A great day of learning and creativity for our Mathews students at the 48th Annual English Festival at Youngstown State University! Before the event, students read seven selected books, then spent the day on campus participating in writing workshops, meeting authors, competing in literature trivia, and taking part in hands-on writing activities. Along the way, several of our students earned awards and had the opportunity to connect with peers from schools across Ohio, Pennsylvania, and beyond. Great job representing Mathews Local Schools!

As we look forward to sunny days and time spent by the pool or lake, it’s important to keep water safety top of mind. According to the CDC, drowning is the second leading cause of unintentional death for children ages 5–14.

We invite you to attend an important Water Safety Presentation to help your family stay water safe and water smart this summer.

Students in Gail Suchanek’s 3rd grade class are diving into math concepts in an interactive way. As part of their lessons on area and perimeter, students explored how shapes can have the same area while having different perimeters, as well as the same perimeter with different areas. Through hands-on activities, students were able to visualize and better understand these important concepts.
